An Asian glamour model who stands 5'11? With the right curves? Are we kidding? Not at all, as you'll see meeting the magnificent Helen Mei.
Can you share with us a bit about your background and any info about your ethnic heritage?
You know what, I frequently get asked what my ethnicity is but I don't blame those wondering! I've gotten a lot of Filipina, Hawaiian, Korean, mixed, even South American, but I'm full Chinese, at least what my parents tell me. Ha. To elaborate, my mom is from Taiwan and my dad is from Guangzhou. I was raised in a very strict household.
How did you started in the modeling business? Was it planned on your part or you just took a chance?
It's funny because if you were to ask me years ago that I would become a model, I would laugh. My dreams were very different when I was younger, because I was an athlete. Basically what happened was one day my best friend, who loves photography, wanted me to be her model... and that's how it all began.
Are you a long-term planner? How do you see your career in... let's say five years from now?
Those who know me know I definitely plan ahead! I probably overthink everything but as much as I plan, I also live for the moment and try to enjoy life every day and do what makes me happy as well. Five years from now, I see my career... well you'll just have to follow me and find out. ;)
You're splendidly very tall and curvy for an Asian glamour model! Do you feel that sometimes you have been stereotyped for only certain themes, though?
I know, and this is where I question if I'm full Chinese! ha just kidding mom and dad. I think I recently grew a bit also so I'm almost 5'11". I love being curvy and tall, breaking the "Asian" stereotypes. I don't mind the themes that come with the tall and curvy stereotype because I'm selective with my projects, but surprisingly, I'm very versatile and thankful that due to my height and look, I can never be truly classified as a certain type of model... but sometimes yes, I do get stereotyped into the glamour theme a lot, but I don't mind.
Can you claim that there's a thin line between your private life and your modeling activities?
Definitely. It's tough because as much as I try to keep them separate, some of my closest friends and family members are my biggest support system. I also love what I do so I catch myself talking about modeling a lot, or probably because I'd rather be at a gig or photoshoot rather than hanging out.
Would you ever consider doing something totally different? Like dressed up like a soldier and standing in the mud, or any project not at all glamorous?
As much as I love glamour, most definitely I would! People often perceive me only doing lingerie or bikini photoshoots, but in actuality, I wouldn't decline something different or not "glamorous". I love creativity and am always up to consider fun projects!
You seem to be a fan of mixed martial arts so can you tell us how athletic you really are yourself?
I am a huge fan of it, I started watching WWE (I know, it's "fake") years ago when my younger brother got me hooked on it, then started watching UFC when it was just first starting out and follow it whenever I can now. Surprisingly, I'm very athletic, and use to be a competitive swimmer. I had high aspirations but due to some personal matters, my dream was cut short. I was a two-time State Champion though, and that athletic mindset has stuck with me. On a side note, I'm also a huge fan of the NBA and follow that very closely! Go #6!
What can you tell us about your upcoming website?
Well right now my website is going to be pretty general, allowing my fans and supporters an insight of who I am, upcoming gigs or events I'll be at, and portfolio. Also, I'll have autographed things they can purchase and shop around. I still have a lot to consider depending on which direction I want things to go career-wise.
Would you be intrigued to wear more standard fetish fabrics like latex, rubber, leather?
I wouldn't mind it if the right project was presented to me. I'm very openminded! ;)
What was the most challenging outfit that you ever wore for an event or photoshoot?
It was one of my first photoshoots ever, and I had to wear this super tight latex dress. I looked at it thinking it would be no problem putting on but man, was I wrong! Lets just say, a lot of baby powder came into play. It was a memorable outfit and I'll never forget that day.
Any favorite activities to do when it's just time to relax? It's almost impossible for us to picture you wearing baggy sweatpants!!!
Haha! As much as I love to dress up, I'm also a huge fan of sweatpants, especially during the wintertime. Sometimes, the best feeling in the world is being able to wash off my makeup, put on a pair of sweats and a tank top, and just relax! :)
Would you ever be interested in visiting us in Montreal to work with the Cult Sirens crew?
Of course! I've only been to Vancouver, Canada, but love traveling so pick a date and my plane ticket, then I'll be there!
